Hello from Cecilia
I am so glad you are here.
The impetus behind the launch of MappingOnward in 2020 was driven by a passionate commitment to apply the very anthropological framework of phenomenology and meaning-making that had fueled my doctoral dissertation. As a doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania (2009-2014), my research situated traumatic memory in social value creation and how post-conflict entrepreneurs were utilizing business ventures as healing agents.
I wondered then, as I do now, how our work can serve as an instrument for moving forward after critical incidents or life-altering events in our lives.
MappingOnward unfolds at the vibrant nexus of soulful dinner conversations, the mosaic of everyday sidewalks, and the profound realm of academic scholarship. In this bilingual journal, you will find articles in English and Spanish, reading lists, opportunities for mental health breaks, journaling prompts, and a musical playlist.
A painting in my office states: 'Let nature and imagination light the way.' I hope the pages of MappingOnward help bring you peace, shed light on new portals for creating more peace in your life, and support your imagination for a new day starting today.
Wishing you love and well-being,
Cecilia
